Did you know? 52% of all cardiovascular deaths in India occur before the age of 70. Heart attacks are serious and in the past two decades, we have witnessed ‘heart disease’ becoming the leading cause of mortality in the country. We think why does one suddenly have heart attack, heart blocks even when the person was healthy and active? Generally, a heart attack is caused by the deposition of fatty and calcified plaque in the coronary arteries, which hinder the flow of the blood and is the main reason for heart attack. Heart problems don’t occur overnight, they are built up over the years, depending on lifestyle, food pattern, exercise and much more. Some contributing factors that can cause a heart attack are:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Smoking/Drinking
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Bad lifestyle habits
- Family history
How does our heart function?
The heart works like a pump, which pushes blood in the arteries and because of the pressure this blood circulates throughout the body. However, arteries must be very flexible and constantly expand and contract. This happens because of the inner lining of the blood vessel known as the endothelium. When toxins pile up in the main arteries of the heart, little by little over the years roughly 15 years, arteries become less flexible and endothelial functions reduces gradually. Consequently, you must have to start taking preventive measures from an earlier stage, maybe by the age of 35-40 itself.
Besides making sure that you exercise and do not put on excess weight, it is significant to take certain antioxidants daily, to prevent piling up of toxins in the artery.
Which antioxidant helps prevent piling up of the toxins?
Presence of Curcumin in Turmeric (Haldi), helps in improving these endothelial functions. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is an extraordinarily strong antioxidant. Thus, improves flexibility and capacity of arteries, if taken daily for years and years. It is as effective as exercise in improving arterial functions. Curcumin can reduce the risk of heart attack if taken regularly!
For prevention of heart problems, start taking this home remedy every day from the age of 35
One teaspoon of Turmeric powder
1 tsp of Indian Gooseberry powder
1 pinch of black pepper powder
Mix all the ingredients well in half a glass of water and drink it twice daily. This will also reduce the risk of cholesterol and arthritis.
